About the event
How is consenting for a new railway line different from other types of development? How do you go about engaging different communities and stakeholders along over 18 miles of track, in an area that hasn’t been served by passenger trains since the 1960s?
After decades of being talked about, in December 2024 passenger trains started running on the Northumberland Line. Alannah Mathewson from SLC Property and Joanna van der Veen from AECOM will talk about how the project approached consenting and community engagement, from outline design through to the line opening. This included consultation on six new stations, consented via the Town and Country Planning Act, and a Transport and Works Act Order for the acquisition of land.
Time has been allowed for questions after the presentation.
