Women in Planning Expression of Interest Form
We are inviting expressions of interest to join the East Midlands Committee of Women in Planning. Founded in 2012, Women in Planning is a national network that supports and promotes gender equality across the planning profession and wider built environment. It brings together people at all stages of their careers through free and inclusive events, mentoring, networking and knowledge sharing. We welcome applications from people with a range of backgrounds, including the public sector, consultancy, development, allied professions such as law, academia, and the charity and voluntary sector. Number of positions available We are currently seeking to appoint up to ten committee members, including a new Chair and Vice Chair. Expected responsibilities Committee members will support the planning and delivery of free events, contribute to public speaking and panel participation, support promotion of the Women in Planning mentoring scheme, liaise with sponsors, and attend and contribute to committee meetings. The Chair will provide overall leadership to the committee, coordinate activity, and oversee delivery of the annual programme. The Vice Chair will support the Chair in these duties and help coordinate committee activities. Time commitment The role typically involves approximately 3 hours per month, including attendance at regular committee meetings and participation in events and related activities. As set out in our Terms of Reference, committee members are expected to attend meetings regularly and should attend at least four meetings each year. Members will also be expected to support or lead at least one event annually. Additional time may be required for the Chair and Vice Chair roles. Process and timetable for selection Expressions of interest close on Friday 5 June and should be submitted via this form. Expressions of interest will be reviewed in advance of the Branch Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Wednesday10 June 2026. Where there are more applicants than positions available, selection will be made through an electronic vote at the AGM, open to members of Women in Planning. The process will be conducted in a fair and transparent way and overseen by an individual not standing for election. Appointments will be confirmed at the AGM. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch at [branch email].

We look forward to seeing you there.
